In my work, I search for the feeling of connection and belonging — not as a physical place, but as a state of being. My figures speak of security, love, and the longing for a place where one is allowed to arrive and feel at home.

My paintings and sculptures tell stories of love, longing, beauty, and harmony. At the same time, they engage with questions that move me as a person — the influence of media on children, the protection of our environment, and climate change. For me, the personal and the societal are inseparably connected.

If I had to describe my style, I would call it Contemporary Symbolism. I am not interested in the narrative of my subjects, but rather in the relationship and the emotion between them. Whether they are embracing or simply sitting together in silence — what matters is the space of comfort, trust, and connection that emerges between them.

This search has accompanied me since childhood. My life began in the wild and transformative 1970s. My parents embraced the spirit of the hippie movement in all its facets. Frequent moves, alternative ways of living, and long stays in India shaped my early years. I spent a large part of this time not with my parents, but in a commune with my aunt. These experiences later left me, even as a young adult, with an inner sense of rootlessness and a constant search for a place I could truly call home.

From an early age, art became my safest refuge. In the process of creating, the world always felt whole. My aunt was a visual artist herself, and I was fortunate that colours, paper, and clay were always within reach. There, I could create something that felt right — if only for a moment.

It was not until my mid-twenties that I realized my work had always revolved around the same search: the feeling of home. Not necessarily as a place, but as a state of being — that quiet moment when one feels: Yes, this is where I belong.

Technically, I also see my artistic practice as an ongoing process. I continuously experiment with materials, techniques, and styles in order to deepen my skills and repeatedly step beyond familiar paths. Curiosity and the joy of experimentation are, for me, a way of life. They keep my work alive and allow space for change and growth.

Perhaps the search for connection is more important today than ever before. In a world that is becoming increasingly fast-paced and impersonal, I want my art to create a quiet space — a place of encounter, memory, and connection.
