Long before the rise of science, our ancestors contemplated the mysteries of existence and searched for ways to understand the world around them.

Myths became a means of explaining the origins of the universe, the presence of the divine, and the eternal questions of life and death. From these stories emerged rituals and celebrations, shaped by collective belief and passed down through generations. Over time, mythology evolved into religion, philosophy, and theology — systems of thought that, while offering meaning and guidance, also gave rise to conflict and wars fought in the name of faith.

Thus, myths and inherited narratives did not always lead humanity toward peace or harmony.

Yet, on another level, belief and mythology have offered comfort and spiritual refuge for thousands of years, providing meaning, hope, and inner support to countless solitary souls. They became a source of light in moments of uncertainty, helping people endure suffering, loneliness, and the fear of the unknown.

The painting portrays two young girls — perhaps even angels — reading aloud from a book together. Their delicate appearance evokes innocence, purity, and serenity. Suspended between reality and symbolism, they seem to embody the fragile beauty of faith, storytelling, and the timeless human longing to believe in something greater than ourselves.
