The lost generation

Mixmedia on canvas 100×80 cm

2021

This painting was created for the Serie called dreams of peace, it reflects the lives of children born into war, displacement, and circumstances shaped by suffering beyond their control. It speaks of innocence confronted too early with fear, loss, and uncertainty — of childhood existing in places where safety and peace have become fragile or absent.

The two children portrayed in the work cling quietly to one another, finding comfort and strength in their shared presence. In a world overshadowed by destruction, they become each other’s refuge. Their silence is not emptiness, but a form of survival — a quiet surrender to realities they are too young to change, yet deeply affected by.

And still, within this silence, hope endures. Despite the darkness surrounding them, they carry within their hearts the belief that another future may one day be possible. Their bond symbolizes resilience, tenderness, and the human capacity to preserve compassion even in the harshest conditions.

The painting is not only about suffering, but also about the quiet strength of children who continue to dream, love, and hope amidst chaos. It serves as a reminder that even in times of war and despair, humanity survives through connection, empathy, and the fragile light we protect within ourselves.
